Assam gears up for Amrit Kalash Yatra অমৃত কলহ যাত্ৰা 2023: Dates announced, Amrit Vatika, Schedule/Program, Updates

Amrit Kalash Yatra is a Union government initiative in regard to ‘Meri Mati, Mera Desh’ ideology. It is nation-wide campaign to adhere to the philosophy of Jan Bhagidari and creating a space called ‘Amrit Vatika’ in Delhi. This space would serve as a reminder for the Indian citizens to work together, develop a sense of brotherhood and unity within themselves. The Union Home Minister Amit Shah on 2nd September, 2023 officially launched the Amrit Kalash Yatra campaign from New Delhi. In his speech on the occasion, the Home Minister mentioned that India will achieve all round development by 2047.

Objectives of Amrit Kalash Yatra:

  • To provide an opportunity to the citizens to come together and work unitedly
  • To emotionally connect every citizen and family for a better tomorrow.
  • To uplift the greater motive of ‘Meri Mati, Mera Desh’.
  • Rekindle the spirit of patriotism among citizens.
  • To honour the brave heroes of the nation who sacrificed their lives.
  • Promote the ideologies of unity and fraternity as stated in our Preamble.

Events in line with Amrit Kalash Yatra:

22nd October-27th October, 2023  Soil will be collected in potsfrom State level
28th October- 30th October, 2023  The posts will reach New Delhi and Prime Minister will offer the soil in these Amrit Kalash to Amrit Vatika, Delhi  

Amrit Vatika: Highlights

Name of the place to be built:  Amrit Vatika
Location:Kartavya Path, New Delhi  near war memorial
Purpose:  A space which will bear soil from across the nation to represent a unified atmosphere and boost confidence among its citizens to work together.

This place will stand for nourishing Mother Earth by plantation of saplings and also honouring our bravehearts.

Assam Amrit Kalash Yatra: Schedule and Events:

Amrit Kalash Yatra

Assam has also announced its scale of participation in the nationwide Amrit Kalash Yatra campaign towards creating Amrit Vatika through Jan Bhagidari. The soils from all villages/wards under a Gram Panchayat or ULB will be mixed in a single kalash/pot at Block Office/ Municipal Corporations and it will be transferred to the State level. From 19 September, 2023, the soil collection process or Amrit Kalash Yatra will begin from grass-root level and it will reach the State level on 26th October, 2023. A State Capital Programme will be organised on 26th October with the following sub-events:

  • Soil will be collected in two Amrit Kalash/pots from across Assam.
  • One pot carrying soil will be sent to Delhi to contribute to the wider campaign of Amrit Kalash Yatra in Amrit Vatika
  • Another pot with soil will be worshipped and preserved which will be used while laying the foundation of Swahid Kanaklata University at Biswanath, Assam
  • There will be a ceremonial flag off event to be held on 27th October, for sending away the Kalash/pot to New Delhi.
  • 270 youth from across the state will accompany the Kalash Yatra to New Delhi to represent Assam.

Dates of Events:

  • 20 September to 9 October, 2023- Soil and rice to be collected from every village and every municipal constituency.
  • 2 October, 2023- Amrit Kalash Yatra and Veer Vandana to be taken out from villages to wards to Panchayats to Municipal Corporations.
  • 8 October and 15 October- District wise Amrit Kalash Yatra to be taken out via Gaon Panchayat to Development Councils on a definite date.
  • 25 October- In depth analytical meetings to be held in Development Councils and 2 brass pots carrying soil/rice will be carried to Guwahati. Joirney to be flagged off on this day.
  • 26 October- 540 pots carrying soil will be collected at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, Guwahati out of which soil from 270 pots will be preserved for construction of Kanaklata Barua University at Gohpur Assam
  • 27 October- Remaining 270 pots will be carried away to capital city Delhi via Rajdhani Express by selected youth representatives.
  • 28 October- On reaching Delhi Railway Station, the Assamese community in Delhi will take over the journey to Assam House.
