Assam Arogya Nidhi (AAN) is an initiative of Government of Assam which provides financial assistance to families whose annual income is less than Rs. 5lakh. This Scheme provides reimbursement of payment incurred by the families while undergoing treatment in hospitals. The first phase of the Scheme began in the fiscal year 2012-13 with only 5 cases of financial assistance. However, over time the program gained traction and by the year 2021-22, it had extended its help to a total of 5548 cases.

Eligibility criteria for Assam Arogya Nidhi:
a) All Indian citizens who are ordinarily resident of the State of Assam will be
eligible under the scheme.
b) All families with annual income up to Rs.5.00 Lakh will be covered under the
scheme.
c) There will be no lower or upper age limit for coverage under the scheme.
d) No Govt. employee or Govt. pensioners and their family members will be
eligible under the scheme.
e) Treatment should be undertaken in any govt. hospital including Govt. Medical Colleges and all reputed Pvt. Hospitals registered under Clinical Establishment Act. anywhere in the state or in the country.

Documents required:
- Proof of annual income- attested photocopy of income certificate by Revenue Circle Officer
- Photo ID proof such as ADHAAR card, PAN card, driving licence etc
- Proof of permanent resident of Assam
- Attested photograph of the patient under treatment to be attested by a doctor.
- Original copy of hospital bills, discharge report, receipts etc.
- Photocopy of doctor’s prescription.
- Attested photocopy of Bank Passbook (front page only)
- Attested photocopy of Pradhan Mantri Jana Arogya Yojana(PMJAY)/Atal Amrit Abhiyan(AAA) Card.
- Duly filled in application form
