Assam Ayushman Bhava Campaign 2023: Date wise activities to be undertaken

Ayushman Bhava is a significant endeavour of Union Government in the direction of attaining Universal Health Coverage for all Indian citizens. It is based on the motto of ‘Ensuring Healthcare for all’. On 13th September, 2023, the Hon’ble President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu, flagged off the campaign through a virtual platform from Raj Bhawan, Gandhinagar, Gujarat in the presence of other dignitaries. A portal for the Ayushman Bhava campaign was also launched at the event.

Ayushman Bhava Campaign-Key Features

  • The government of India has launched the “Ayushman Bhav” campaign to boost exposure about the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), ABHA ID generation, and services relating to monitoring and control of diseases that are not transmissible, TB, and sickle cell disorder.
  • It is intended to cover every health service in every town and hamlet, to ensure that it reaches up to the very last mile and provide access to health care services for everyone in the community.
  • A set of interventions or activities under Ayushman Bhava Campaign will also be included such as- Ayushman Apke Dwar 3.0, Ayushman Sabhas, Ayushman Melas, Ayushman Gram Panchayats etc. in due course of time.
  • This effort will be executed using an all-government, all-society strategy. The campaign will involve NGOs, SHGs, PRIs, youth organizations, primary cooperative societies, the Indian Medical Association, and organizations that support to CSR.

Ayushman Bhava Campaign-Activities:

The following are the primary activities under the campaign:

  • Ayushman- Apke Dwar 3.0: Initiatives “Ayushman – Apke Dwar” 1.0 and 2.0 were successfully carried out with three main goals in mind: raising awareness, increasing the number of Ayushman cards beneficiaries, and developing a flow of care that will ultimately boost scheme utilization. Ayushman cards totaling over 19 crores were issued as a result of this effort. The Ayushman card penetration and increasing use of services have been shown to be strongly correlated with the PM-JAY scheme’s experience. As a result, it is planned to commence the third round of “Ayushman – Apke Dwar” under Ayushman Bhava Campaign in order to provide Ayushman cards to all remaining eligible beneficiaries under the PM-JAY scheme and ensure that no eligible beneficiary is overlooked.
  • Ayushman Mela: The establishment of “Ayushman Melas” in each of the Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Centers and at CHCs by the medical colleges is one of the crucial measures to maximize service adoption. These melas/camps are anticipated to result in increased access to specialized care, a strengthened continuum of care, the development of community and health system trust, an improvement in community health seeking behavior and health literacy, increased community ownership in healthcare educational institutions, and maximum outreach.
  • Ayushman Sabha: The Ayushman Sabha will include the distribution of Ayushman cards to qualified beneficiaries, the display of the names of beneficiaries who have received care through PM-JAY, the promotion of empaneled hospitals in the region, the holding of exclusive health talks to raise awareness of NCDs, TB, routine vaccination, SCD, Ayushman card, and the facilitation of the creation of ABHA IDs. Additionally, additional invitees will include MPs/MLAs, PMJAY recipients, Ayushman Bharat Health and Wellness Center recipients, and others.
  • Ayushman Gram Panchayats: Upon successful completion of all the above mentioned three activities, a Gram Panchayat will be designated as Ayushman Gram Panachayat and in case of urban areas a ward will be declared as Ayushman Urban Ward. The ‘Ayushman Panchayat’ is a revolutionary initiative given to a community with 100% coverage of the Ayushman card, ABHA ID, screening for hypertension and diabetes, screening for TB, screening for sickle cell disease, and distribution of sickle cell illness cards to the tested people. The goal of the Ayushman Bhava initiative is to bring together the key players from the departments of Tribal Affairs (MoTA), Housing and Urban Affairs, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, and Health and Family Welfare in order to rename each panchayat as a “Ayushman Panchayat” and promote the overall sustainable development of the community.
