Pension for artistes and their families is an effective step towards financial recognition of the contribution made by them to enhance the cultural arena of the state. The Department of Cultural Affairs, Government of Assam has decided to offer pension along with ‘Barxik Silpi Samman’ which is a one-time financial assistance provided by Government of Assam.

Assam Government Pension for Artistes and their Families- Key Features
- Assam Award of Pension to Artists and Special Pension to their Families Rules is a financial recognition scheme of Government of Assam.
- It will provide pension / financial grants to the Artists of Assam as a token of recognition to their outstanding contribution in the field of Art & Culture.
- It will also provide pension/financial grants to the indigent families of artists who have made outstanding contribution.
- It is available in two main formats- in a monthly pension scheme and a one time financial assistance known as Barxik Silpi Samman.
- It will also provide one time financial relief to the families of the deceased artist.
Pension for Artistes: Amount
- Artist Pension: Rs. 8,000 per month
- Family Pension: Rs. 4,000 per month
- Barxik Silpi Sanman (Ex-Gratia Grant): Rs 50,000/- (One time)
- One time special Financial assistance to families to deceased Artist: Rs 50,000/- (One time)
Assam Pension for Artistes: How to Apply?
The applicants can apply through online mode. CLICK HERE to apply. The applicants need to register themselves in the portal prior to online application. CLICK HERE to register.
Important Information on Assam Pension for Artistes:
- The applicants will be able to apply online in the portal from 4th, October, 2023.
- The last date of receiving online applicants is 3rd November, 2023.
- Online application must be submitted within 3rd November, 2023 as the application link will be disabled post last of submission.
- For Divyang and Bed-ridden artistes, the Cultural Development Officers or the Junior Assistants of Cultural Centres under Directorate of Cultural Affairs, Government of Assam, from their respective districts, will visit the residences of those applicants for applying through online process.
- The names and contact numbers of those officials for house visit shall be made available in the web-portal.
- For any kind of wrong information provided while online application by the applicant, he or she shall be solely responsible.
Eligibility Criteria:
- The age of the applicant for Silpi Pension/Pension for Artistes must be 60 years or above
- The applicant must be a permanent resident of Assam.
- One applicant with one mobile number can apply/register only once.

- PAN Card ( JPG format within 100 kb).
- Aadhaar Card. ( JPG format within 100 kb).
- Age Proof Certificate (Birth Certificate, Matriculation/School
leaving/Transfer Certificate by recognized Educational Board, Aadhaar
Card, Voter ID, PAN Card, Driving License, etc.) ( JPG format within 100
kb). - Identity proof (Passport, Aadhaar, Voter Id, Driving License, Ration
Card, Bank Passbook, Photo Identity Card, etc.) ( JPG format within 100
kb) - Passport Photograph of the applicant ( In case of Silpi Pension) ( JPG
format within 100 kb). - Single passport photograph of the applicant and Joint photograph of
Husband and Wife (In case of Family Pension) ( JPG format within 100
