Assam Skill Development Mission has introduced another flagship program ‘Skill Yatra’ which was launched by CM Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma on 8th September, 2023. It is a comprehensive program to enhance skills and potentialities of youth in Assam. In an initial phase, skill yatra was launched in Kamrup, Nalbari, Darrang and Morigaon districts of Assam.

Skill yatra under Assam Skill Development Mission ASDM:
The Assam Skill Development Mission is set up to fulfill certain goals through skill yatra. These are:
- With the goal of helping to meet the growing need for skilled workers on a worldwide basis, ASDM is intended to establish an unified skill city with schools from all industries hosted on a single campus and equipped with all the latest facilities and training equipment.
- Setting up of skill education centres across the state. In this direction the Assam CM has announced to set up training centres for 5750 candidates. 61 training centres have been inaugurated so far.
- With regional and community factors in mind, ASDM has chosen to open skill centers in each district and in each block. To give tribal belt and block more power, an additional step will be implemented. The ASDM emphasizes on all the regions that are experiencing insurgency, and it intends to give those internal regions additional attention.
- To offer skill development lessons after school hours, ASDM aims to sign MoU s with schools and colleges.
- Construction, fishery, dairy, food processing, sericulture, bamboo, and other industries with an emphasis on entrepreneurship are specifically highlighted in the microfinance adoption program of Assam Skill Development Mission.
- Based on the state’s shortages of skilled workers, the Mission organizes basic skill development trainings. At least 80% of graduates from these short-term training programs, which typically last two to three months, are guaranteed employment with starting salaries between Rs. 6000 and 16000. The trainings are free, and there are no expenses for fooding and lodging.

DAKSHA App (Digital Access to Knowledge and Skilled Human Resource of Assam)
The DAKSHA App has been launched by Assam Skill Development Mission (ASDM) to bring all the stakeholders in single platform. The DAKSHA App provides a platform for doorstep delivery of services (Like Electrician, Plumbers, Beauticians and so on), it can also help the students to find training programs for the skills they are interested in, Monitoring of training online and connection of industries with the skilled workmen force. Eligibility conditions:
- The beneficiaries will have to be registered under PM Vishwakarma Scheme.
- The applicant must be of minimum 18 years of age.
- Should not avail credit based scheme under central or state government such as PMEGP, PMSVA, Nidhi Mudra in the last 5 years. However, applicants who have already repaid MUDRA, SVA NIDHI will be eligible to apply.
Training details:
- A basic training will be provided up to 5-7 days or 40 hrs.
- A daily stipend of Rs.500 shall be provided to the trainees during the course of training program.
- A toolkit incentive of Rs.15,000 (one time) at the beginning of training program shall be provided.
