Assam Government has announced to provide Chief Minister’s Climate Resilient Village Fellowship 2023. This fellowship will be provided under the agency of Assam Science Technology and Environment Council. The Department has invited for participation of young students to work towards creation of climate resilient village under the scheme “Chief Minister’s Climate Resilient Village Fellowship Programme (CMCRVF)”.

Objectives of Assam Chief Minister’s Climate Resilient Village Fellowship 2023
- To carry out study of some selected villages and develop as model climate resilient villages in Assam.
- Capacity building of post-graduate students on climate change mitigation and adaptation.
- To create awareness among the rural people through the fellows about climate change impacts and adaptation.
Eligibility criteria for Assam Chief Minister’s Climate Resilient Village Fellowship 2023
- Students pursuing or completed post-graduation in Environmental Science/ Ecology and Environment/ Life Sciences/Zoology/Botany/Bio-technology/Geography/Geology/Chemistry/Physics/Economics/Sociology/Social-work
- B.E/B.Tech in Environment/Civil/Chemical/ Bio-technology.
Selection Procedure:
There will be a written examination in OFFLINE mode. The examination centre will be notified
later. The final selection will be done on the basis of the marks obtained in the written exam
(60% weightage) and the Synopsis submitted (40% weightage).
Duration and work plan for the fellowship :
The fellowship will be for 3-6 months and after completion, they have to submit a report of
their findings and a work plan for the two assigned villages to create climate resilient
environment. During their entire tenure, fellows will require to upload the findings in
centralized platforms and selected mentors from different institutes will help them curate and
manage their data. Fellows will be given small grant for entry point activities and small
scientific interventions.
Fellowship structure:
The fellows will be remunerated with Rs. 20,000 for the entire time duration of their project

Work profile for Assam Chief Minister’s Climate Resilient Village Fellowship 2023:
- Baseline study of the village.
- Inventory and documentation of traditional practises of agriculture, natural farming,
on-farm water management and irrigation methods. - Documentation of demographic features, land-use pattern etc. of the village.
- Documentation of biodiversity of the village and their traditional use.
- Inventory and documentation of agro-ecology.
- Inventory and documentation of traditional knowledge, wisdom, technologies and
their uses. - Study of the impact of the industries/factories in the adopted village and nearby
places. - Assessment of climate change vulnerability and resilience.
- Identification of certain areas for scientific interventions to make the villages climate
smart and eco-smart. - Bio-mass, bio-char and carbon sequestration assessment.
- Identification sustainable livelihood options and agroforestry systems.
- Generate innovative ideas for making the villages climate -resilient, promotion of
carbon free culture among villagers, greening the earth and producing self-sustaining
resources etc. - Capacity building activities with focus on women, students and youth.
- Develop proof of concept for eco-smart village for inclusive development.
- Awareness of pollution level in the village and identification of the source of different
pollutions in the village and their effect on the livelihood of the villagers. - Awareness of cleanliness among the villagers.
How to apply for Assam Chief Minister’s Climate Resilient Village Fellowship 2023?
Candidates have to apply by filling up an application form. They will have to provide all the necessary credentials as per the requirement along with a SYNOPSIS of 1000 words describing the candidates’ proposal for working on climate change issues in village level. The copy of dully filled form along with all other testimonials should be sent via mail to cmcrvf2.astec@gmail.com with subject Chief Minister’s Climate Resilient Village Fellowship Programme, 2023 on or before the last date of application. The last date of application submission is 15.11.2023.
