Assam Start Up is a entrepreneurship venture introduced by Government of Assam. It was created to establish a start-up ecosystem in the state. . It was drawn up in the year 2017 with a vision to create a culture of entrepreneurship in Assam by promoting and empowering the youth to become job creators and pursue their entrepreneurial dreams thereby transforming the state into a leading Startup hub in the country.

Objectives:
Basic objectives of the policy are:
- To facilitate the growth of at least 1,000 new startups over the next 5 years;
- To establish a state owned marquee incubator;
- To attract funding opportunities of USD 250 million for state startups in incubators;
- To create 1 lakh direct and indirect opportunities over the next 5 years;
- To develop a mechanism of problem solving and culture of entrepreneurship in the state.

Assam Start Up-The Nest:
The Government of Assam has set up an incubation centre for the startups of Assam in association with IIM Calcutta Innovation Park. With the name “Assam Startup- the nest”, this incubation centre is a state-owned marquee setup situated in the heart of the city Guwahati (at G.N.B. Road, Ambari). The nest will assist in fostering the spirit of entrepreneurship in the community and fuel startups with infrastructure support, comprehensive mentorship and investment opportunities.
Eligibility Criteria for Assam Start Up Incubation:
Any Indian citizen above 18 years from the date of notification, can apply for incubation support in the nest(Incubation canter) under the following criteria:
- Applicant/s must have an existing business in Assam or willing to set up a new business in Assam, thereby contributing to economic development Assam.
- Having at least a Minimum Viable Product (MVP) with Proof of Concept (POC)
- Should ideally have demonstrated some traction from customers
- Preference will be given to those with a full-time core team
- The plan / venture should not belong to following industries- alcohol, tobacco, gambling, firearms and explosives.
- The business should not be an expansion or extension of an existing business (including Family business)
Assam Start Up Incubation Programmes:
Assam Start Up The Nest invites bright minds from across Assam to apply for Start Up Incubation Programme and get benefitted in areas such as expert guidance and mentorship, excellent networking opportunities, premium co-working spaces and access to government grants and other fund raising support schemes.
The following are the Incubation Programmes with their duration:
- IGNITE: This program is designed for early-stage entrepreneurs or individuals who have a business idea but haven’t fully developed or validated it yet.
- Intended participants are:
- Individuals with business ideas.
- Early-stage entrepreneurs.
- Those who need assistance in refining and validating their business concepts.
- Program Highlights:
- Duration: 4 months
- Perfect for early-stage startups.
- Idea validation and business model refinement.
- Tailored workshops and hands-on mentoring.
- Intended participants are:
- Early-stage startups.
- Entrepreneurs with a validated business concept.
- Companies working on product development and market entry.
- Program Highlights:
- Duration: 6 months
- • Comprehensive support for startups in the growth phase.
- • Dedicated Co-Working at The Nest at subsidized rate, mentorship and access to funding opportunities.
- • Specialized workshops on scaling up and market penetration.
- ELEVATE:
- This program is designed for mature startups that have a proven business model and are looking to scale rapidly.
- Intended participants are:
- Established startups with a proven track record.
- Companies ready to scale their operations.
- Entrepreneurs seeking rapid growth and market expansion.
- Program Highlights:
- Duration: 1 year
- Fast-track your startup’s growth.
- Intensive mentoring, global networking, market expansion and investor connect.
- Access to strategic partnerships and national/international exposure.
