Kisan aur Karigar is a nation wide photography competition featuring the farmers and artisans of India. India’s farmers and artisans are the backbone of our nation. From fertile fields and traditional crafts to local industries and cultural heritage, they embody the spirit of self-reliance, skill, innovation, and perseverance that defines Bharat. The Ministry of Commerce via Nirmit Bharat’s govt-backed app DigiHaat – in collaboration with MyGov invites citizens to participate in the “Kisan aur Karigar: Faces of Bharat” Photography Competition.
This Competition aims to capture authentic stories of India’s farmers, artisans, craftsmen, weavers, makers, and local communities through compelling photographs. Participants are encouraged to document the people, places, traditions, and skills that contribute to India’s rich cultural and economic heritage. Photographs may showcase artisans and farmers at work, local crafts and industries, One District One Product (ODOP) initiatives, heritage skills, traditional occupations, rural entrepreneurship, and the vibrant spirit of local communities across India.

Objectives of Kisan aur Karigar- Competition
- To celebrate the contribution of India’s farmers, artisans, craftsmen, and local entrepreneurs to nation-building.
- To showcase India’s rich cultural artisanal heritage, traditional knowledge systems, and local industries.
- To promote awareness of One District One Product (ODOP) and region-specific crafts and agricultural practices.
- To encourage citizens to document and preserve stories of local communities through photography.
- To inspire pride in India’s Swadeshi heritage, craftsmanship, and agricultural excellence.

Participants may submit photographs under one or more of the following themes:

Guidelines for Participants- Kisan aur Karigar Competition
- The photograph must be original and captured by the participant.
- Photographs should authentically represent the contest theme.
- Basic editing such as cropping, colour correction, exposure adjustment, and sharpening is permitted.
- AI-generated images, heavily manipulated images, composites, or digitally altered photographs that misrepresent reality are strictly not permitted.
- Participants must obtain consent from individuals featured prominently in the photograph wherever applicable.
- Photographs must not contain watermarks, signatures, logos, timestamps, borders, or promotional content.
- Images should be submitted in JPEG/JPG or PNG format.
- Minimum image resolution should be 3000 pixels on the longer side.
- Participants may submit up to three photographs.
- Each submission must include in the Photograph Name in the description:
a) Photograph title
b) Location
c) Name of artisan/farmer/community (if consent has been obtained)
d) Name of Participant
Example: Chanderi Artisans_UP_Deoria Village_Shashank - Photographs must be respectful and uphold the dignity of the individuals and communities represented.
- Entries focusing on poverty, hardship, or distress solely for emotional appeal may be disqualified.
- The photograph should not infringe upon the rights of any third party.
- Entries previously awarded in national-level competitions are not eligible.
- The decision of the jury shall be final and binding.
Terms and Conditions for Participation in Kisan aur Karigar Competition
- The Kisan aur Karigar competition is open to all Indian citizens.
- By participating in the contest, participants confirm that they are the sole creator and copyright holder of the submitted photograph(s).
- Participants retain ownership of their photographs.
- However, by entering the Kisan aur Karigar contest, participants grant the Government of India, Ministry of Commerce, DigiHaat, MyGov, and associated organizations a perpetual, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to reproduce, publish, display, adapt, archive, and use the submitted photographs for awareness, educational, promotional, archival, exhibition, and non-commercial public communication purposes.
- Appropriate credit will be given to photographers wherever feasible.
- The organisers reserve the right to disqualify any entry found to violate the contest guidelines or terms.
- The organisers reserve the right to verify the authenticity of submissions and may request RAW files or original image files for verification.
- Any false declaration may lead to disqualification.
- Participation in the contest implies acceptance of all contest rules and decisions made by
the organisers. - The organisers reserve the right to modify, suspend, or cancel the contest without prior
notice if circumstances so require. - Organizers will not accept any responsibility for entries that are lost, are late or
incomplete or have not been transmitted due to computer error or any other error beyond the organizer’s reasonable control. - Please note proof of submission of the entry is not proof of receipt of the same.
- All disputes/ legal complaints are subject to the jurisdiction of Delhi only. Expenses incurred for this purpose will be borne by the parties themselves.
- By participating in the activity, the participants shall abide by all the terms and conditions of the competition, including any amendments or further updates.
- The terms and conditions henceforth shall be governed by Indian laws and the judgments of the Indian judicial system.
Evaluation Criteria for Kisan aur Karigar Competition
Entries or participants shall be evaluated on the following basis:
- Relevance to Theme – 25%
- Storytelling and Emotional Impact – 25%
- Creativity and Originality – 20%
- Technical Quality – 15%
- Representation of India’s Heritage and Swadeshi Spirit – 15%

Participants can log in using their digi locker or through MyGov Auth. If already participated, citizens can log in using their mobile number and OTP.
Prize Details:
- The first winner will receive a cash prize of ₹10,000.
- The second winner will receive a cash prize of ₹5,000.
- The third winner will receive a cash prize of ₹3,000.
- There will be five honorable mentions who will each receive a cash prize of INR 1,000 each.
- Top 3 winners may be invited to attend a national-level government event.
- Winning photographs will be featured on official DigiHaat app, DigiHaat social media platforms, some exhibitions or publications and awareness campaigns.
- Selected photographs may be displayed during national events, ODOP showcases, cultural exhibitions, and public outreach initiatives. The winners will be informed if such an event takes place and will be credited with their name on such events.

The competition is open to all citizens of India from 24 June, 2026 to 25 July, 2026 (IST (GMT +5.30 Hrs).
