Assam has a rich cultural repository in the field of music, dance, festivals and tradition. The rich heritage is under constant preservation and efforts have always been made by the government to enrich its glory and make it globally popular. In this direction, the CM of Assam, Himanta Biswa sarma along with Department of Cultural Affairs has declared the observance of Sanskritik Mahasangram a cultural competition to be held within the state. The announcement has been made in the 100th Cabinet Meeting of Assam on 25th August, 2023. The proposed time for Sanskritik Mahasangram is fixed at 10th October 2023 and it will continue up to 7th February, 2024.

About Sanskritik Mahasangram:
Sanskritik Mahasangram will be an event full of cultural display of talents from in and around Assam. It will provide a platform to showcase and bring out the inner aesthetic instinct of the participants. It will also serve as a major opportunity to identify concealed talents of Assam. The event will be competitive in nature in areas related to singing and dancing.
Highlights of the progress made in the run up to Sanskritik Mahasangram:
- Logo has been designed and approved.
- GP/VCDC/ULB/MAC Level competition to start from October 25 to November 25, 2023.
- LAC level competition will begin from 1st December to 20th December, 2023
- District level competition will begin from 2nd January, 2024 to 20th January, 2024.
- State level competition will take place from 28th January, 2024 to 6th February, 2024.
- Grand finale will be held on 7th February, 2024 at Sarusajai Stadium, Guwahati.
- The following committees under the event has been notified: Apex committee, State Level committee, State level Judge selection and Grievance redressal committee.
- 1441 Judges has been selected till now and further selection is in process.
- The Selected judges will undergo One Day orientation Programme at District Level on 16 Oct, 2023.
- A total of 2995 venues have been identified in various levels.

Online Registration for Sanskritik Mahasangram:
For online registration the interested participants from Assam can log in to registration portal of Sanskritik Mahasangram. (click on the link). However, the process of registration will commence from 10th October to 20th October, 2023. The registration to the event will be done on the basis of Legislative Assembly Constituencies.
Guidelines/SoP for Participants under Sanskritik Mahasangram:
The participants of Sanskritik Mahasangram need to follow certain guideline/SoP as laid out by Department of cultural affairs, Government of Assam.
- An Applicant can participate in any / all categories of the event.
- For the Sangeet Categories, 20 (Twenty) model songs for each category will be selected and widely circulated by the Cultural Affairs Department, Assam, however no other songs in that category can be barred from performance. The Model songs will be available in the Library Section of the Portal https://www.asm-judge.in/. The District Commissioners will download the model songs and upload the same in the District Website for wide publicity.
- The District Commissioner will provide a list of 70 Nos. of Judges through the online portal to be provided from 1st Sept. to 10th Sept., 2023 for scrutiny by the State Level Judge’s Selection Committee.
- After scrutiny, the State Level Judge’s Selection Committee will provide 60 (Sixty) Judges for Competition and 3 (Three) Expert Judges for District Grievance Redressal Committee and 7 (Seven) will be in the reserve pool of Judges for the districts by 20th September, 2023.
- The District Commissioner will provide 70 Judges in the ratio 30:20:20 for Sangeet, Bihu and Ethnic Dance Competition. The Expert Judges for District Grievance Redressal Committee will be placed from the nearby district.
- The criteria for selection of Judges is: The Applicant must be M.Music /B.Music degree holder OR Govt. Music / Dance Teacher.
- The District Commissioner will notify the GP/WARD/LAC/ DISTRICT Level Committees including DISTRICT Level GREIVANCE REDRESSAL COMMITTEES by 30th September, 2023.

The grand finale of the event will take place on 7th February, 2024 at Sarusajai Stadium, Guwahati and declaration of winners in each category will be made on that day.

The State level Competitions of Assam Sanskritik Mahasangram will be held from 29 January to 5th February, 2024. Here is the district wise dates of the event to be followed:

The Government of Assam in its 100th Cabinet Meeting has approved for a sum of Rs. 33 crore approximately for successful organization of the event.
